BRINGING DANMEI TO SINGAPORE SINCE 2022

Rosmei is an independent publishing house, copyright licensing service, and book and merchandise retailer based in Singapore, dedicated to bringing a piece of Asia to the world. Although we have a strong focus on danmei, we also wish to explore the market of other genres.

We believe every love story deserves to be told with care, and every reader deserves a quality book in hand.

We specialize in localising Chinese web literature and comics and publishing beautifully produced English editions. Our catalogue includes celebrated titles such as How to Survive as a Villain, Nanchan, The Defectives, Kaleidoscope of Death, and Coins of Destiny. Whether through physical editions or e-books, Rosmei is committed to high-quality, heartfelt storytelling that crosses languages and cultures.

Rosmei also offers licensing services for those interested in exploring the rich and diverse world of Chinese fiction. With our expertise in copyright and publishing, we help navigate the licensing process smoothly and responsibly. We work closely with rights holders and creative partners to ensure each story finds its next life with care and integrity.

In addition, we bring Asian books and merchandise from beloved stories to a global audience. From official novel editions to thoughtfully designed merch, we work to make the worlds that readers love more accessible—no matter where they are. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to the genre, our carefully curated offerings let you collect, display, and celebrate the stories that matter most to you.

MEET THE TEAM

Adrian Mei | Senior Linguist

He is a Chinese-Canadian linguaphile who spent his childhood between the East and the West. He's been reading danmei since 2011, and in 2014, he began translating danmei in his free time as a way to supplement his academic training in literary translation. As a translator and consultant, he has worked on projects large and small involving video games, movie scripts, whisky commercials, museum exhibitions, and more. Now he leads the team of translators and editors at Rosmei to bring beloved danmei works to more English-language readers.

He speaks 6 languages, loves to cook, and is the hooman of three lovely rescued cats.

Hati | Editor

She approaches every manuscript like a fresh D&D campaign—a miniature realm, waiting to be explored, enchanted, and occasionally rescued from grammatical goblins. With curiosity as her map and precision as her sword, she ventures through tangled plots and hidden subtext, uncovering the treasures buried in each draft.

As an editor, she channels the bard’s craft: weaving words that sing, polishing prose until it gleams like a well‑forged blade. Her quest is simple yet profound—to help every story roll a natural 20 and leave its readers spellbound.

MouMouSanRen | Editor

I am an overseas Chinese from a major diaspora city in the US. When I was younger, Chinese storytelling kept me close to my family and community. Working between languages now is my way of giving back.

Nyani | Editor

An editor with a keen eye and a lifelong love for boys' love, she has been reading danmei for over ten years. As an Overseas Chinese, she brings a unique cultural sensitivity to her work. Editing is just one of her passions as she's also an active member in cosplay and hanfu communities! Her dedication shines through in everything she does.

The icon is her silly cat, Bibi, a close companion, number one supporter, and pampered little prince.

Onymous | Editor

A passionate bookworm who started devouring books in grade school—some kids played tag, she played “finish a book before dinner”. She only recently fell into the danmei rabbit hole, and boy, did it turn her world upside down. Now she’s bingeing titles faster than you can say “cultivation sect drama”.

An experienced editor with a sixth sense for flow, she’s polished everything from swoony BG novels to snappy YouTube scripts. If your prose needs a glow-up, she’s your girl—just don’t ask her to pick a favourite ship. (She has at least seven.)

Rei | Editor

An editor by day and gacha connoisseur by night, he battles typos and aphids with equal precision—whether pruning a sentence or his latest basil plant. A veteran of the boys’ love and slash community, his first ship set sail in the ’90s with Jet Li and Chin Siu-ho in Tai Chi Master (1993), and he’s never looked back. He brings decades of fandom passion and sharp editorial instincts to every project he touches.

Val R. | Editor

As someone who spends too much time reading, thinking about, herding, and sometimes writing words, Val fully expects to find herself under an avalanche of printed media someday. A lifetime appreciator of fiction, she discovered danmei in 2023 and fell in love with the genre's oft skilful blend of romance, story, and deeper meaning. It was a slippery slope from there.

Her proliferating hobbies include doodling, building "book nook" dioramas she has no space for, and collecting tarot cards. She lives with two cats, both of whom adopted her.

Angela Huang | Translator

I spent ten years of my life studying literature but decided that translating danmei is more fun than writing academic papers—I enjoy the creative freedom and emotional catharsis of doing literary translation that the academic rigour of my profession wouldn’t allow. I started translating danmei also because I believe that danmei authors deserve more recognition and danmei fandom deserves more content, and I’m so happy to be doing my part—however small it is—to bring more danmei to international readers.

Cheska | Translator

Meet Cheska here! A part-time translator/a life-long otaku with a brain that runs on wild imagination. She's thrilled to bring the glittering world of BL novels to readers. Consider this your official invitation to swoon, sigh, and scream into a pillow. Happy reading!

Jenny Lu | Translator

I grew up filling journals and losing myself in books, never imagining that one day I'd help other people fall in love with stories that began thousands of miles away. As a translator for Rosmei, I get to be part of something bigger—bringing the intricate emotional landscapes of Chinese web literature to readers who might never have known they were missing them.  Years in translation taught me precision; motherhood taught me patience; and living between cultures taught me that some feelings are universal, even when the words for them aren't. Between yoga sessions and failed baking experiments, I'm working to ensure that every 'I love you' lands with the same intensity in English as it did in Chinese.

Jin | Translator

My name is Jin a.k.a. Golden Pavilion, part-time translator, full-time behaviour analyst (non-certified, non-professional), and I'm on the dream team. Rosmei and I are committed to bringing the best quality danmei translations to the English-speaking world. We want you to experience danmei like you were there. Get immersed in the world with us.

Xuannie Chan | Translator

Xuannie is a full-time translator with experience in gaming, media and online literature. She finds translation the best kind of puzzle—one where you break the original text down into its varied elements and piece them together anew in another language. She also enjoys writing, napping, and alliteration a little too much.
